Yes, Holidays Are Busy

Apparently holidays are really, really busy.... due to the fact that I have not posted for 20 days! Wow. I have been bad. No, not bad, just busy. And full of Christmas spirit.

Let's go back 2 weeks....
I went to Minnesota, between Seattle and Kansas City work trips, and had tons of fun with family and friends to celebrate the holidays:
Friday- Lunch with Fun Amy and dinner with Andi
Saturday- Pizza party with Jen, Family Christmas at the bowling alley, dinner with Shannon & Anita and ending with wine with Sue & Maggie
Sunday- Brunch with Eve & Erica, visit with Grandma, and dinner with the "Flanery Girls" Aunts & Cousins

It was so fun! And so festive. Very lucky to see tons of friends and family the weekend before Christmas. Then off to Kansas City, back to the Bay area for more work, and then 3 and a half days of more holiday hectic fun with the immediate family.

Mom & Dad flew in on Friday afternoon. 3 days with the folks and Jarrod:
Friday- Dinner at Pyramid Brewery followed by the best ice cream around
Saturday- Massage & lunch with Mom, relaxation at home & movies with the family
Sunday- Official holiday of good food, lots of gifts, going to the movies, and ending with a turkey feast.. very nice family day
Monday- Shopping with Mom and ending with dinner in San Jose and the Sharks hockey game with the 4 of us... fun times! Go Sharks!

I was really sad to see Mom & Dad leave on Tuesday, as I was heading to work, but both weekends were fantastic and I still have New Year's Weekend to come. How lucky!? Very.

The spirit of Christmas was all around.... between friends & family time, lots of holiday movies, music in the air, festive moods, and making people happy.... it was a wonderful season. Could not have asked for anything more. Well, maybe more time with Mr Big... but we have more time for that in 2012. I promise.

I hope everyone in blogland had an amazing Christmas holiday. Photos to come soon.
One final..... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Holiday Heaven and Beyond

I have been feeling a little depressed the past few days (they do say the holidays brings that out in people, right?) so like a sane person (hopefully!) does, I try to focus on the positive.. especially with all the hustle & bustle of the holiday season. So, push the negative aside and I am so very thankful and looking forward to December and beyond:

Christmas celebrations- starts in 1 week- the weekend prior to Christmas in MN. I have a weekend full of dinner with my best friend, a family bowling party, drinks with girlfriends, brunch with more best friends, time with Grandma and ending with dinner with my cousins- yep, super full fun festive weekend.

The weekend of Christmas, the folks are flying to San Fran for 4 days to hang with Jarrod and me in Cali. Relaxation, movies, lots of food, and the San Jose Sharks will keep us busy. Can't wait for a long weekend for some festivities with the nuclear fam.

Then comes New Year's Eve... I have never been one for "going out" this night (leave that to the amateurs) so as usual, I am hosting a DVD marathon at my place. This year it's fondue and
The Big Bang Theory". Yippee!

As the New Year arrives, there is even more to look forward to:
Sundance Film Festival Part 1 with Amy & Kari and Part 2 with Shannon in January (this alone is enough to make me giddy with joy!!!)
Florida beach vacation in February
40th Birthday Caribbean Cruise with Shannon in April
We wil take March to breath

Does it get much better? Nope. So, work will be insane (as it always is), but I have some much to look forward to over the next 5 months. THAT is what keeps me sane when holiday depression sets in, I have to travel almost every week, work hours are super long, flights are delayed, snow causes accidents, and people get cranky... and I mean down-right rude.

Let the fun for the next 5 months begin! Right now... the fun is a bottle of Sterling Merlot and "Annie Claus" on the Hallmark channel :)

Ho.... Ho... Ho!!!

A Quick Complaint

I have a very quick complaint.. I know it's a weird one, but here goes:

I just don't get the fascination with Cinnabons. Ya know the mass produced gloppy Cinnamon rolls you can find at a kiosk in every mall and airport in the U.S.?

You may ask- what is there not to like about warm, soft, sweet carbs dripping with sticky, sugary frosting? Well, maybe that just answered by question: overkill. Simply too much of a good thing at once.

Many may think- "Darien, what is wrong with you!?" Well, just don't think they are all they are cracked up to be. Just my opinion. I will take anything my Mom bakes over a Cinnabon any day. No offense Cinnabon.

Ok, back to my coffee and "Love Actually" on DVD.... It's beginning to feel alot like Christmas...

Am I Too Old For This Crap?

Another long, but good work week.... meetings, dinners, being social, solving problems.... and to top it off, after a planning/alignment/team building day yesterday, along with 7 fabulous co-workers- all who happen to be men- we decided to stay out and "party" until 2AM! Seriously!? What was I thinking!? I am not 21 anymore.

Yes, after a 10-hour work day, we went to dinner- low-key seafood at the Pier in San Fran.... then a stop for a "night cap" turned into 2 more bars, a view of Occupy San Francisco, a few semi-naked San Franciscans and a wonderful cover band at Dan's Bar back in Walnut Creek.

A solid meal of seafood, lots of water and lots of walking helped the martinis not take over this 30-some-year-old body, so we aren't even talking "hangover" here---- we are simply stating this: I don't want to get in the habit of having a very long night of fun that ends with only 4 hours of sleep before I start another work day again. Not in my wheelhouse apparently. Gosh- I'm sleepy.

So, here I am on Friday.... just wrapped up another 8 hour work day (good thing it was at home on Conference Calls, emails and returning phone calls, but still...) and I am darn worn out. An early movie, dinner with a friend and I expect to be in bed before 10PM. And I am just fine with that.

I must say, I had an absolute blast last night. The city of San Francisco, especially on December 1st as the holiday season is in full swing, has so much to offer- lights, sights and fun. I laughed so much, enjoyed the company and did not overdo it on food nor liquor, but a little more sleep would have made it even better. What a fun night. I smile as I remember the fun.

Confession: I am confident, despite my whining, I will do it again. Just not very soon.

Red Velvet

I have one thing to say today... well, 2...

Did you know that Chili's has a super delicious molten chocolate cake? Well, they do. AND did you know that for the holiday season, they have a RED VELVET version? Yep. Sure do. Wow. I can barely contain my excitement. I was too full to indulge while having lunch at Chili's yesterday, but I am anticipating a visit very soon...

YUM.

2nd quick thought... I am such a sucker for the cheesy holiday movies. Lifetime. Hallmark. USA. TBS. You name it- I love the movies. Right now, since work is done for the weekend, I am having a really hard time deciding between 2 flicks on at the same time. That is my Sunday evening drama.

That is all for today.
May your Cyber Monday be successful tomorrow.

So Thankful this Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in blogland!

I love seeing all of the "thankful" messages on Facebook today. Mine is no different. While I sit here in Park City in my sweats, with a hot cup of coffee, the fireplace going strong, watching a cheesy holiday Lifetime movie... and relax until going to work at 11PM, I am very, very thankful for...

* The most wonderful family- the best Mom & Dad I could ask for and a brother who I am very lucky to have live with me in California (we are all little strange, but makes us love one another even more!)

* The cutest little feisty calico kitty, Casey, in the whole wide world.. can't believe my baby is 11 years old!

* Overall general good health for myself and those I love

* The love of a guy who keeps me smiling and having fun every day (in our own little way)

* Friends and extended family of all ages to visit all across the country

* An amazing job at Best Buy that I love every single day (well, ALMOST every day!)

* True faith and spirituality to guide me through life

* Multiple gym memberships to keep healthy, sane and have fun exercising

* TV, cable, DVDS, Netflix and Redbox

* New fashions every season

* In Style and US Weekly magazines

* Wonderful charities that support the less fortunate

* The beaches and the ocean

* Starlit skies

* Soft falling snow

* Mom's baked goods

* Southwest airlines

* The hope for another Sex & the City film... 3rd times a charm?

* Sundance Film Festival

* Tropical vacations

* The overall joy for life and the people in it

Today, these are a few of the things I continue to be thankful for.
May everyone have a special day and continued holiday filled with peace, love and joy.

Pedicures & OPI

There is not much better than a really, really good pedicure. Warm water, a massage chair, leg & foot massage, and OPI polish in fun colors all that result in pretty tootsies for under $30.

Yes, sometimes one can find a bad pedicure joint, but if they are clean- they are generally good. My faves are Bolinger Nail Spa in San Fran east bay and Solar Nail Spa in Park City. Both have really good massage chairs. That is a bonus.

I needed one today (try for every month or so)- I headed on out to Bolinger on this rainy Sunday. Flavor of the day- Strawberry Margarita, of course by OPI. My. Toes. Look. Amazing. and shiny.

What I also like: when they don't go overboard trying to sell you the "upgrades" salt scrub, foot mask, etc. Offer once and move on. Yes, they do need to offer- but just once.

That is all for today. Very content with my fresh and pretty feet. And I really do love OPI polish.

What's on the Mind of a Sick Girl

When I say sick, I mean ill or not feeling well.. I do not mean demented. So, with a bug in me.... mind a bit a skew, here is what occupied my mind this week:

Why is it that women feel the need to talk on the phone in a public bathroom in a stall on a toilet? That is just simply disgusting. I will never understand this one.

I do also do not understand censorship on TV. FX to be exact. They can show the creep factor of American Horror Story and Nip/Nuck, but they replace "practicing kissing on your girlfriends" with "practice kissing on your pillow friends" and they completely cut out a girl-on-girl kiss. Makes no sense to me at all.

How does "medium" at some steakhouses means bright red and others means no red at all? Inconsistent. And hard to order. But I still do.

People take their Southwest airlines free drink coupons very seriously. Simply put: they no longer take the old ones; they only take the new ones with expiration dates. Deal with it. They are free.

Sangria is not tasty at all Mexican joints. Most; just not all.

Animal prints are still; in fashion this season. Don't like it, but they are.

Yes, they do market and see Twilight hairbrushes. For real.

It really sucks to be not able to exercise for 5 days when you are not feeling well.

I am really, really excited to watch Revenge, Up All Night, Parenthood, Hart of Dixie and 2 Broke Girls this weekend. I have many shows to watch, but those are the highlights. Excited!

If it ever stops raining, I will clean the grill this weekend. Not fun, but necessary.

I love it when the super thick December issue of In Style magazine arrives in the mail. Today was the day. Yeah!

Ok, time for Private Practice, some ice cream and a candle or 2. Bye.

Liking the Customer Service

If you read yesterday, you saw that I am dealing with a bout of the stomach flu. It has surpassed the 24 hours and we are now going onto 48 hours... Much better today, but still not great. I have been sucking down Pedialyte (gotta save those electrolytes) all day. This morning I had a banana. It stayed down. I just had some chicken noodle soup... has stayed down. First things to stay down since Friday night. I hope I am on a roll now.

Yesterday I never left the house. Today, while not 100% better, I was going stir crazy and had to run a few brief errands. I must say customer service over the weekend has been great.

First, since I was "couch ridden", I decided to book all my December work hotel stays at Hiltons. Somehow, I made a mistake and booked for last night rather than December. When I tried to cancel- they said, sorry- time has expired and I must pay for it! Really? So I called the 800 number, they heard my store and canceled the room. Nice. Easy.

Today, I ran to Walmart and Home Depot. Now, first I must say... I despise Walmart. I only go when there are things I really must have that cost much more elsewhere. Well, and also because there is no Target in Park City. We need a Target. So, Walmart.... bought the 4 things I needed and the cashier was the friendliest cashier I have encountered in quite some time. She made me smile. Then to Home Depot to return the (wrong) garbage disposal and exchange a kitchen faucet. I did not have my receipt. No questions- just a very easy simple process. Smooth. Loved it.

I must say between Hilton, Walmart (gross) and Home Depot, I was a pleased customer this weekend. Now if my stomach flu could be as accomodating. Please.

Positive Thinking

If there is one thing in the world I detest it's the 24 hour stomach flu. I know there are debates that state there is no such thing, but I am here to tell you.... it exists. I get it about once every other year and it's absolutely miserable. Approximately 24 hours of non-stop puking (yes, I know... not the visual you wanted) and feeling like a Mac truck drove over your entire body.

For me, I started a blissful evening last night with Mr Big.... a usual Park City night of wonder that I look forward to every other week or so and after 6 hours, it hit. Like a bomb. Either that, or the sushi we had for dinner, but I do believe I know the difference between food poisoning and stomach flu. Or at least I hope.

It is now 1PM and here is what I am thinking: this stomach flu is going to help me drop a few pounds. Nothing I can do about it, simply just aiding in my weight loss plan. And because I am such a ridiculously high-strung woman, this will force me to relax today which I truly have a very tough time accomplishing on a regular basis. No cleaning. No errands. No work. Just couch and TV. Right now, it's the BBC DVD series "The Mistresses". Don't ask me why- just sounded intriguing. And thus far it surely is.

So, THINK POSITIVE. There is a light at the end of every tunnel- even the stomach flu deep, dark, gross tunnel: weight loss, cleansing, relaxation and crazy TV shows. With that, I may try some water and an apple for the first time in 18 hours. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right???

Lazy Saturday

When the retail holiday season is here, and I travel (most weeks) all week, it is really nice to have a Saturday with absolutely nothing I have to do (except exercise, of course!), I love, love, love to simply do the things that are not "necessity", but just plain "nice to have" for this overly- organized girl to do.

Here is my plan on this shiny, happy (enter R.E.M. lyrics here) Saturday:

Wash the sheets
Call and/or email some friends
Pay some bills for December (yes, getting ahead of the game)
Plan the "Holiday Agenda" (when to order Christmas cards, send cards, get the tree, etc.)
Go to grocery store to stock up on fresh fruits & veggies
Pumice my heels (no gross, nasty heels here... even in cold weather, ladies)
Catch up on 45 hours (yes, I really did say 45 hours) of DVR shows from October
Polish the silver Tiffany jewelry
Do a home facial
Update my blog.. obviously :)
Work on my "Christmas Gift List" (both mine for Mom and what I will buy others!)
Make sure all the pots/pans and Tupperware have the proper matching lids (yes, I am that anal)
Cuddle with Casey

Good? Ya... that should do it. And it's only 10AM and I have completed more than 3/4 of what is on this list already this morning... I guess that means lots of luxurious couch cuddling and DVR watching while eating fruit for me today... ahhh....

Love it.

Move Over Halloween; Welcome Festive Holidays

Halloween was fun... I was disappointed that between the hour of 6-7PM I did not get even 1 Trick or Treater, nor did Jarrod get any after I left, but I did have a great dinner with my best friend Andi when she was in town for work. I loved watching the kiddos in their costumes as I drove to dinner. So cute!

But some pasta and sangria made the night grand- oh- and the big, huge bowl of Reeses and Kitkats are going to the office community candy dish. After I have a few.

Now... onto bigger and better things. Let the festivities of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's begin! What I love most right now, the "limited edition stuff" that comes out for a short time every year. Think Gingerbread Lattes from Starbucks and Peppermint Stick ice cream. Can you say yum!? My fave thus far... just found them yesterday... STACY'S GINGERBREAD PITA CHIPS. Oh- and healthy too. So yummy.

I am feeling festive. It could be the chill in the air, the pumpkin candle I'm burning, the fire in fireplace.... ummm... probably not the AMERICAN HORROR STORY from FX that I am watching on DVR right now... So very, very creepy I must say.

So, It's beginning to feel alot like Christmas... at least for the next 2 months. Lovin' ya November and December.

Coupon Crazy

Have you seen that show about crazy coupon people? Women (yes, it is most always a woman) who spends her life cutting coupons to basically get groceries for free? Insane.

Well, that is not me. But, I will admit I am very gullible when it comes to coupon offers. 30% off at Gap, Banana Republic, etc., 20% off or $5 off a purchase of $15 or more at Bed, Bath & Beyond, surprise 15, 20 or 30% off at Kohls, etc. Give me a coupon to a place I like and I am there.

Ok, I sometimes I will simply go because I have a coupon and other times I will wait to buy something I need or want until I actually have a coupon. For example, Gap... yep, I will just go and shop. BB &B, this time I waited because I needed a new hairdryer and I was not going to spend the extra $5 if I could wait for a coupon! I did that today.

I also sometimes, just sometimes, will actually open a store credit card if the discounts are simply that good. For example, I love J Crew... and for every $500 you spend, you get a $25 gift card. Yep, so worth it for me. Especially visiting the J Cew Outlet in Park City. So great!

Now that I do not get a newspaper at home, I fail to use the proper amount of grocery store coupons, but if I am eating healthy with lots of fruits and veggies, and leans meats, there are not coupons for those places, are there..... nope- just store "specials".

Anyway, I confess to my shopping addiction. It's there. But these coupons do help for saving up for fabulous finds such as my lovely Prada, Jimmy Choo, and others that NEVER have coupons. Oh the horror!

Shop 'til you drop, friends. I do :)

Reno and Prior

I have some good news and some bad news... well, actually lots of good news and just 1 piece of bad news to share today.

Let' start with the good news of course.
Last weekend, after spending some time out of town for some other bad news (that we are not going to talk about since it has been put to rest and we must put positive vibes out there now), I ended the weekend with PINOT ON THE RIVER in wine country.. Healdsburg, CA to be exact.
Check this out:

More than 50 wineries
All serving Pinot Noir (my favorite varietal of red wine)
In 1 square block
With the BEST Humboldt Fog Cypress cheese to nibble on
Other local haunts and wineries to visit (Portalupi was my fave!)
All you can drink for one low price

Wow- huh!? Nice for a sunny Sunday afternoon. My teeth may be permanently purple.

Next up... Holiday Leadership Meeting for work in Reno. That is the bad news. Just Reno. Kids, not a fan. The meeting and people there were FANTASTIC, but Reno lacks some luster. Literally. We stayed at The Nugget. I am sure in the late 80's (when it was constructed) it was quite the joint- but these days... well, let's just say it got the job done, but I am fine if I never visit that hotel again. Ever.

But, to be fair, let's share a few positive points of The Nugget:
Inexpensive
Few edible goodies in my room every night
Starbucks in the lobby
Cute old women serving as hostesses who continually referred to me as "cutie" or "sweetie"
Good water pressure in the shower
Free cocktails

Ok. Done with that.

Aside from The Nugget itself, the meeting was a success (I can breath now) as well as I got to spend time with LOTS of wonderful Best Buy people for 4 days, many who are also great friends. Of course, this mostly involves food, but a few more highlights shall you visit Reno in the near future:

Dinner with my HR team at Ichiban at Harrah's (always a hit)
Bistro 7 with my local team- fabulous red velvet cake after a tasty meal
Gaslamp to round out the week- everything was delicious (thanks Vanessa, Colleen & Rudy!)

Done with HLM. Now onto more holiday prep in the stores. It's retail fever. The time is upon us. But for now... coffee, my couch and E! News are on the agenda.
Happy Saturday to all.

Just Your Average Week

Or rather, just your average Monday.. or Tuesday... take your pick. Both were... well, let's just explain:

Monday started with my "workout neighbor" vomiting on the elliptical and splashing on me. Gross! The day did get better for a bit, but dealt with some major body odor at the San Jose Sharks hockey game last night. Cold BO in the arena is worse. For some reason.

Today was one of those crazy stress days. Issue after issue after issue at work... all I was looking for was a normal Tuesday. Headache began about noon.

Came home from the office about 6:30PM. Watched "American Horror Story" on FX. Wow. Talk about a freaky show. Not sure what to think about that. Not so normal. But kinda intriguing.

Then, back to normal, with some evening cleaning. Is there anything exciting about cleaning the shower on a Tuesday night during TV commercials? Ya... I think not. Oh well.

Forget the puke. Forget the BO. The pizza, Halloween candy, and a cozy little kitty made it all a little bit better.
Next up: Grey's Anatomy. Then back at it tomorrow. Nighty Night!

Darien Does Dallas

Last night I arrived in Park City (yes, Park City... the love of my life) after 4 days in Dallas for work. I knew the week would be stressful so I was very on purpose about planning to be healthy and not sucked into eating like crap and not working out due to staying up late drinking to much. I deal with the "all too familiar endless meal buffets" and late night drinking binges associates with out of town meetings.

So, here is what I promised myself:
Only certain foods consumed from each said buffet (i.e. veggies, lean meats, etc.)
Limited cocktails at night
In bed early enough to be able to get up and exercise at least every other day

And.... drum roll.. it worked! Aside from lots of stress and sad news that occurred, I was not over tired, I felt good and I lost 2 pounds! See, friends, it IS possible to be healthy under peer pressure, traveling and crappy food offerings.

What else can I tell you about Dallas:
No hills or mountains
Cheaper gas (this is where oil comes from, right?)
Lots and lots of beef
Decent weather (apparently the record breaking heat has passed)
Whataburger in place of In & Out Burger
Ranger and Cowboys (the athletic kind of course)

Yep, That's all.
Dallas was decent. Now back to lovely Park City. I love u, PC.

Working for the Weekend

Yes, I am quoting Mike Reno & Loverboy. But it's true- worked hard this week- rough week, and now ready for some fun with the arrival of the weekend. Home from MN to CA. Weather is gorgeous.

Saturday- Noe Valley dinner & Steve Nicks concert in the city
Sunday- Pleasant Hill Art, Jazz & Wine Festival

I love this. Time to relax and hang out.. with some fun events with friends sprinkled in. Yes, I am counting Stevie as a "friend" in this case.

Check it out. Sleep in, exercise, catch up on DVR, and then out for some fun. Ahhhh.... this is what weekends after drama-filled weeks are made of. Love me some fun weekend time that is well deserved.

Coffee in one of my favorite mugs is hot & yummy. Revenge of DVR is riveting. Casey loving to cuddle in my lap is nice. When will I get to the gym?? Soon enough...

Thanks to Vanessa, Rudy, Dan, Chris and Jennifer.... and, of course, Stevie for creating a wonderful Northern California weekend for me. Before I head out of town again on Monday for work. Work, work, work. But not now. Now the weekend is here.

I kinda feel like I am on the edge of 17.... Thanks again, Stevie.

A Little More October

As I stress (just a little) about how hectic October will be for work, I am "honing in" on the relaxation zone and trying to focus on the "fun" the month will bring tossed in between the work.... here is what I am looking forward to:

Well, of course, last night KEITH URBAN in San Jose was great- super musician and entertainer- wow!

Seeing MOM & DAD in MN this week.. always a pleasure

STEVIE NICKS at the FILLMORE in San Fran next weekend- CANNOT wait for this!!! And... I may just arrive early and do a little shopping in the city first.... double the pleasure!

Pleasant Hill WINE & JAZZ FEST on a Sunday the first half of the month

Surprise entertainment in Dallas?? Wait for this one my friends.... your guess is as good as mine!

MR BIG and the SPA in Park City mid and again end of month (again, double... well, you know...)

SAN JOSE SHARKS hockey game with the little brother on his day off

Haircut and color (yes, this is FUN and makes me perkier... and I dare say a little prettier!)

Pinot Wine tasting in WINE COUNTRY

A little GAMBLING in good ol'RENO (ok, this one is a stretch)

But, for a very busy work month, this is some good stuff, eh? I think so.... keepin' it positive my friends. Happy October to all!

October is Here...

Last night I spent the evening relishing in what the arrival of Fall brings... the first chill in the air, fire in the fireplace, smells of pumpkin, burning leafs & crisp Fall wind, and bringing out the sweaters and Fall clothes. Also, call it good or bad, for me, working retail, it brings crazy, busy days and nights.

Here is what October looks like for me:
California
Minnesota
California
Texas
Utah
California
Utah

Yep, that is just for the next 31 days. Mostly work, sprinkle a little fun in there, but yep, mostly work. And what can be the highlight in each? Let's see...

California- just home. Love being home. That should be enough, but let's throw in Keith Urban and Stevie Nicks for some extras. And some wineries. Twice.

Minnesota- family & friends in the hometown state

Texas- hopefully some surprise entertainment to come and maybe some Texas BBQ???

Utah- Mr. Big. And the mountains. Park City. My favorite. Wonderful way to end the busy month.

As crazy and hectic as the month will be for work, definitely look forward to some fun. And relaxation. Balance people- that is what it's all about. Bring on the Fall Fun! Any suggestions you have in the many states I will visit?

Fall Shopping Plans

While I hate for the Summer weather to slowly slip away, I do adore what Fall brings... new clothes! When I was a kid, I loved the "new school clothes" shopping. As an adult... well, it's just fun shopping!

Here is what is on the "fun list" for me this Fall- or shall I say "wish list":

* A big, fun tank watch
* A cool trench coat (this is still on from last Spring... never got around to this one)
* Vintage/retro cowboy boots (same as trench- this one I actually went to buy and they did not have the kind I was looking for. Bummer.)
* Brown leather tall boots
* A cool brown men's belt for jeans
* A few great above-the-knee-length skirts in various colors and styles
* A classic comfy cashmere cardigan
* Crisp white long sleeved shirt (this is a must every year- gotta keep 'em crisp & WHITE)

I think that should it. Keepin' it classic this time.
No clue when this shopping fun will occur, but nonetheless, I am excited for it.
Happy Saturday!

Fall TV Premiers

Back from Cabo, Back to Reality... but also Back to Fall TV Premiers! Love this time of year, TV junkie that I am. Thank goodness for DVR!

I have counted: 29 shows to DVR this year thus far (a few always fall off and a few more added as the season progresses). Good news- only 2 of my faves fell off this year: "Brothers & Sisters" and "Better With You". Not bad odds. Looking at standard networks only- HBO, Showtime, etc. is an entire different subject. Entourage, Nurse Jackie, US of Tara, etc. Love 'em. And the other networks with great summer line-ups such as TNT, Lifetime, ABC Family, etc. Lots of good, mindless fun out there.

Premiers I am most excited for this year:
Pan Am (bring back to old school glamour of airline travel)
Up All Night (Welcome back Christina Applegate!)
Charlie's Angels (my childhood revisited)
Whitney (she is hilarious)
Hart of Dixie (I have missed Rachel Bilson since The OC)

A few honorable mentions:
Ringer (I have missed Sarah Michelle as well)
Playboy Club (yes, I admit it)
Revenge (at least one of my fave actors from Brothers & Sisters has a new show)
Prime Suspect (how can you not like Maria Bello?)

Many happy returns- the best of the best (in my eyes anyway):
Big Bang Theory (best writing ever)
Two & a Half Men (waiting to see where Ashton takes this)
The Good Wife (amazing show)
Biggest Loser (one of the few reality shows I like)
Modern Family (hilarious)
Parenthood (wonderful cast)
Cougartown (this one keeps getting better and better each season)

And last, but not least, will give these returns another shot this year:
How I Met Your Mother
Mike & Molly
Happy Endings
Rules of Engagement
Grey's Anatomy
Private Practice
Desperate Housewives (final season- probably a good thing)
One Tree Hill (we will see about this one...)
America's Next Top Model (Tyra drives me crazy, but for some reason I love this show)

Let the festivities begin September 13!!! :) Look forward to my "expert reviews" to come.

Just Some Tuesday Comments

Not to get too deep tonight, but with some friends & family going through some tough times this week- health matters are always a bitch- just wanted to take a moment to not take for granted what you have.

As I was feeling very lucky for having extra bonus money to take care of some "home improvements" I wanted to do for the past several months, I decided to make a few donations while I was at it...

For example, Livestrong on behalf of my friend Kari Kehr and Girls for a Cure (check out her website at www.girlsforacure.com) as well as Stand Up for Cancer. Nice job Kari! Thanks for reminding me to do the right thing once and awhile.

We all work hard and focus on spending our money wisely.... always makes me feel a little better when even a little can be distributed for assisting whatever causes are top of mind and need our help to make a difference. I know there are many and everyone has their own passions.

For tonight, I want to say... Thinking of (including, but of course not limited to) Jerry Springston in New York, Joyce Holznagel in Oregon and Kyle Williams in Heaven.

How to Reduce Stress

The past few weeks have been extremely stressful and we all know the best way to handle stress: live a consistent, healthy life style, get sleep, etc. Ya, that is correct- and fine and dandy, but what are those "when all else fails" go-to things? Well, here goes:

Ding Dongs (yes, the wrapped in foil fake-cake Hostess snacks)
Really loud, stupid music on the elliptical
Pedicures
Chick flicks and Judge Judy on the TV
Jelly Bellys
Wine- lots of it
Oh- and vodka too
Anything with cheese on it
Shopping at Tiffany
Frosted cookies
Dancing like a crazy person
Hearing my kitty purr
Did I mention cheese!?

Ok, I will still agree living a healthy life style with lots of sleep, water, healthy food, keeping liquor consumption low, meditation, and exercise is the best. But sometimes, just sometimes.... I must indulge to help the stress melt away. And we will start with the Ding Dongs. And then some cheese.

Stress be gone!

Summer Art Festivals

One thing I truly love about Summer are the art festivals held in every city over the hot months. Since I found out I have to be in Minnesota at the beginning of August for work, I have been looking forward to the Uptown Art fair in Minneapolis (yes, Uptown, not downtown) that I have not been to in years.

Whether it's the over abundance of pottery and jewelry or the fun, unique stuff you spy from each artistic, I always walk away with something great. And there is usually some fun "fair" food too- such as my faves- roasted corn on the cob or a yummy corn dog.

As I thought about the pending Uptown art fair, I was totally unaware that there was another art fair at Redstone in Park City today! So, after a fun Sunday of a great workout and a pedicure, off in search of treasures I went. Not super exciting, and fairly small, but I did come away with 2 new trinkets.

1- Funky, sparkly cheese knives
2- A new dinner plate

I realized, when a friend visited me in PC a few months back and I served some cheese and crackers, I did not have any cheese knives. Call me silly, I know... :) Now I do! Cheese & wine at Darien's place!

And in Cali, about 2 years ago, I got rid of my "standard" place settings (dishes) and started collecting miss matched plates, bowls, mugs, etc. for fun. I tend to pick them up at art fairs, trips with girlfriends across the country, etc. So far my mugs and bowls are quite the conversation starters, but my plates still leave a little be desired. I am now one step closer!

Makes for a smiley, happy Sunday. More to come after Uptown in 1 week.
Go starving artists go- you have my support!

Weekend Deep Thoughts

Ok, no Jack Handy here... just some "as the weekend comes to a close" recap. Oh, where to begin... Well, Friday seems like a great place.

Humidity in Minnesota does not seem as bad when covered by some chilled Prosecco with friends on the patio

Broder's (50th & Penn in Mpls) serves a mean chicken & spinach stromboli (thanks Andi!)

Not a whiskey gal, but again Andi, you are correct.. a little Jack Daniels Honey over ice is yummy... give it a shot (well, not literally a shot.... just a sip)

Tavern on France (Edina, MN) still serves the tastiest homemade potato chips with blue cheese and dipping sauces around... everyone who tries 'em loves 'em. Again, give 'em a whirl!

Even though the prices are higher and there are options everywhere, there is still nothing like brand new bras and panties from Victoria Secret to make a girl smile

Horrible Bosses was pretty darn funny... and wow- Jennifer Aniston looks AMAZING! If that is what 40's can look like... well, bring it on

Shopping for jewelry at Tiffany & Co with Amy. Nope. Don't need to say anything else about that. You get it.

On-time flights home with limited turbulence still make me happy

Once home, no matter how many times you have seen them, there are always those classic goofy chick-flicks that come on TBS, USA, TNT, etc. that once you turn on, you just MUST sit and watch, even if you own it on DVD and you truly have seen it over 10 times (this lovely Sunday it happens to be "13 Going on 30"- compliments of Jennifer Garner)

And last, but certainly not least, the kitty wanting to do nothing but cuddle up with her Mama on the couch... simply priceless. Meow.

Hope your weekend was sensational as well.

Mid-July Highlights

It's July 15th and it's been a great month so far. I love summer! Fun in the sun and always more on the horizon. A few highlights thus far...

4th weekend at the cabin on the lake... time with cousins lounging on the deck with lots of mudslides, mimosas, wine.... and a little time on the jetski too.

Enjoying a little time at home in Cali with high temps and lots of sunshine- did I mention I have a pool? Maybe I should use it...

Family bonding time in Park City for Jarrod's birthday with Mom & Dad... hangin' in the mountains on the zipline, alpine coaster along with lots of cocktails, good food and relaxation.

Toss in a Colbie Caillat concert at Wente winery, a quick jaunt to Las Vegas for work, and a fun night with a hot guy in the city of San Fran for some "culture" enjoyment. That brings us to today. Or rather tonight with "Bad Teacher" at the theatre before a good night sleep.

Thanks, July, I thank you for the fun. G'night all. For now.

July Is Here!!!

I have been anticipating for this day for quite some time... Tons of stress and craziness that I was expecting to be lessened significantly as of today.. July 1st! It is finally here.

Work "events" are done. Meeting prep and meetings are done. Don't get me wrong, work is still busy, but the "events of a hectic matter" have ceased for a bit. So, what to do now??

Well, aside from more work of course, here is what I am looking forward to this month:

Sunshine and warmth!
Lakes, pools and sprinklers everywhere
Ice cream
Family time with the girls at the lake cabin
Fireworks
Mom & Dad with me in Park City
Las Vegas (ok, not so excited about the heat, but still love it)
Wine country (more than one visit, I might add.. Napa and Livermore)
Colbie Caillat in concert

Some good stuff, eh? Now, if I can just keep work and humidity-caused frizzy hair at bay, let the games of July 2011 begin.... right now!

Fun (Amy) Cali Weekend

This is what happens when work gets so crazy busy and get quite stressed: I forget to update my blog. Ugh. So, it's been almost 30 days. But a super fun weekend is bringing it all back...

This weekend my friend Fun Amy (yes, it's very important that I refer to her as Fun Amy- with numerous friends named Amy and Jen, it's critical to provide special code names). After I describe our 36 hours of fun, you will know why I call her FUN.

It was Amy's birthday weekend and she and I arranged a surprise birthday visit to San Fran due to the fact that is was also her brother Tim's 50th birthday and his band, CITY JADE, was scheduled to play at a new club in Gilroy, the Garlic Capital of the World.

We started Friday night with a delicious dinner in the city at FIRST CRUSH. We sat at the bar with a cool bartender and we ordered cocktails- think Kir Royal and French Kiss- a few champagne laden libations and moved on to bread with olive tapenade, garbanzo bean fritters, lobster mac & cheese, flash fried spicy calamari and ending with enough dessert for 5.... chocolate mousse, chocolate chip bread pudding with heath bar ice cream and sour cherry pie with vanilla gelato. Wow. Needless to say, we didn't not finish it all, but we waddled home more than satisfied.

Yesterday was wonderful! Started with pedicures, next up was wine country in Livermore... CONCANNON and MURRIETA'S WELL. So fun! Sipped 8 wines for $5- not joking- at Concannon and 6 more at Murrietta. Walked away with 2 lovely bottles (each under $25) as well as some mouth-watering wine peanut brittle. YUM!

Last, our trek to Gilroy for checking out the little garlic town, some dinner, and ending with Tim's band at 9 Lives Club. They were great! Love me some 80's hair-band-rock! Yes, there was a tiny bit of head banging going on last night.... And I loved when they did a cover of Nick Gilder's fabulous "HOT CHILD IN THE CITY". How awesome it that!?

In bed by 1Am after a fun-filled day with Fun Amy in Northern CA. Yeah!

Could not ask for a better (short) weekend with food, fun, and friends.

The "Want" List

Getting ready to go hiking and out for brunch on this lovely sunshine filled Sunday-before-Memorial Day and thinking about what is on my "want list" these days. Here goes:

* Burberry trench coat (yes, I believe it must be Burberry, but I could be sold otherwise...)

* Funky cowboy boots (vintage would be nice)

* A good, solid black pencil skirt (one that makes me look 10 pounds less would be best)

* A handsome tank watch (don't really care about the brand, just want to it be eye catching)

I am sure if I squint my eyes, make fists and think really, really hard I can think of more that I want, but this will do for now. Any suggestions blog-land friends?

Enjoy your Sunday.

Leavin' Las Vegas

Oh how I wish I could just stand in Las Vegas, does not really matter where, and take pictures of the attire people choose to wear. They seriously must not own mirrors. And they must be color blind. And for closure, they must not own scales and believe one can only buy clothes at children's stores. This has got to be the best people watching of all time.

Instead, I took a few pictures of us. Simply sharing this one that is channelling Charlie's Angels. Don't ask... not really sure why. Just because. It was fun.

But, a few highlights of another lovely Girls Weekend in Vegas...

* Middle aged guys who buy us (young hot women, right?) drinks after they just met us 30 seconds prior (and yes, those Bellagio drinks are more than $20 each- thanks!)

* The Manson Girls (yes, I would bet money that time had warped back years and they were there in Vegas... exceptionally long, flowing hair.. Susan Atkins, Leslie Van Houton.... not sure, but I would swear it was them...)

* Getting super excited over the Wheel of Fortune slot machines... just hoping for the chance to spin the wheel

* PRADA PRADA PRADA.. enough said there

* NO buffets please.. that I will just never understand. Never.

* Tony at Comme Ca at Cosmopolitan makes a mean cocktail and serves even meaner french onion and lobster bisque- yum!

* Free cocktails even when you only bet $1

Oh Vegas. I love you. Thank you for the fun.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the cool Mom's out there, but specifically to my MOM- Peggy Holznagel. I honestly could not ask for a better Mommy.

While there are way to many to remember at this moment, here are a few reasons why I love my Mom and memories that come to mind over the past 30 plus years:

* As a kid, walking or riding bikes to Short Stop (neighborhood market) for hot dogs, cokes and ice cream

* Always, and I do mean always, finding those rare, hard to find gifts when they were at the height of popularity. Cabbage Patch Kids, anyone?

* Every child in elementary school hoping to me in my class because they all knew Darien's Mom was the best "Room Mother" ever- always going above and beyond for the class parties and events

* 2, not 1, pairs of "really cool" Guess overalls thanks to Mom... regular denim and bright pink. Yep, I was fashionable in the 7th grade- Mom got me hooked

* Always, always, always being at every single dance event that ever existed in my life and trust me, there were TONS. Not that it was a chore for her going to Florida to watch us win the National Dance Team Championship, but still...

* The numerous Mother/Daughter trips over the last 15 years to Maui, Puerto Vallarta, Las Angeles, Colorado.... I am missing many- we have had some wonderful Girls Trips together and more to come!

* Twice per year, going well out of her way to find the best possible Christmas and birthday gifts a girl could ever ask for. And last week's birthday was no exception... A-list designer clothes, Tiffany & Co goods, wine stuff.... yep- she is THAT cool!

But, most of all, being there for me every day of my life, even when I moved across the country 7 years ago by phone, email, cards, visits, and more vacations. And not judging me or caring that I don't want to have children which in turn means no grandchildren for her. She does not care because she only cares about my happiness.

Supportive, loving, caring, fun, generous and so much more.

Love you Mom!

Happy Easter!!!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT EASTER:

* Of course, finding the Easter basket hidden by the bunny on Easter morning

* Egg hunts!!!

* Deviled eggs (yes, even as a kid!- but again, hold the ham please)

* New Easter dresses and shoes (the shoes were a MUST- again, even as a kid!)

* All the pastel colors everywhere (only time of the year I like pastels)

* SUPER STALE peeps (yep, as I said before they MUST be stale- chewy!)

* Daffodils

* Going to church (aside from Christmas, the best church service of the year)

* Family time

* Friend time

So, aside from the super stale peeps, much like every other day that I like :)

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!!!

Easter Weekend

I love this time of year (usually because it's around my birthday!)- but as much as I do NOT like ham- honey baked or not- not a ham fan, but I do like Easter. Maybe it's the bunny, deviled eggs, chocolate, and jelly beans???

Anyway, I have the worlds best Mom who always gave us baskets filled with "good chocolate" (think Fanny Farmer, Godiva, See's etc.)- not that waxy, fake drug store crap- think quality not quantity, friends. Mmmm... I think my favorite was Fanny Farmer chocolate covered pretzels. Love the mix of salty and sweet. Now, years later, I still follow in Wonder Mom's footsteps when I buy candy for gifts and such.

Aside from the basket of tastiness, I also love the family meals (again, as long as I can avoid the ham). As an adult, also not a fan of buffets (as I kid it was fun to pick and choose a little of this and little of that)- you end up paying a ton of money and get full of (many times) crappy food very quickly. So, not a fan in general. One exception is Scott's Seafood Sunday Champagne brunch (Walnut Creek). Yep- that passes the test. Give that one a try.

BUT I love picking great places to go for Easter with family and friends. This year the lucky winner is Skates on the Bay in Berkley with Jarrod and Jennifer. Bring on the mimosas and seafood! Looking forward to being thankful for what I have as we celebrate tomorrow.

Thank you Easter Bunny! (and of course Jesus too).

Weekend Memories

While I am sitting in my hotel room in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (which is not all that great, to be honest--- the city, the hotel room is just fine) I am depressed that I am in Pittsburgh, so I am reminiscing about the wonderful weekend I had with my very best friend Andi last weekend in Park City.

It could not have been better! Some names will be left out (to protect the innocent of course), but here is the scoop:

Started out Friday, once we arrived in PC at my condo, with a bottle of scrumptious Artesa red wine and started our "gossip and catch up weekend". After a few hours, we went to SILVER for dinner- so tasty! At 11PM, we opted to stay clear from getting crazy that night and reserved some fun for Saturday (but we did have a little more wine at home!)

Saturday was even better.. .lunch on Main Street and then some fabulous time spent, along with Mr Big (remember, protecting...) up the mountain at The St Regis in Deer Valley enjoying martinis, mojitos, and Tijuana taxis... Taxi is a cocktail made with espresso, Kahlua, and tequila. Wow. Sounds gross, but so good! After that, we sent Big on his way and did a little (yes, just a little) damage shopping. That of course, created more room for more drinks! So we were off to Easy Street (yes, that is the name of the bar) for some bubbly by the outdoor fire.... Is this the life of what!?

It was enough to simply spend quality time with my very best friend, and the beauty of Park City, and the wonderful food and cocktails made it even better. Yes, confession, I seriously did shed a tear when I dropped her off on Sunday. Boo hoo. I love my friend time.

Just wanted to share a little of my favorite things: best friends, tasty calories and frothy liquor. Ha!

Just Another Saturday

I have a confession: It's been almost 3 weeks since my last post. Busy? Yep. You bet. Crazy is more like it. Work. Good. Just super, crazy, up-to-my-eyeballs busy. I work like crazy all week and weekends are either chock full of errands, to-do list, etc. OR it's nothing. Just pure relaxation that flies by like a snap of my fingers (I wish I had more of those!) Last weekend was busy AND fun.... dinners out, musical Rock of Ages with some friends... very nice San Fran time. Now it's Saturday in "let it snow, let it snow Park City" (yes, it's almost mid-April, but let's keep that a secret from the skiers and snowboarders!). Here is what is on my mind today: * The absolutely amazing gorgeous purse I bought at Prada after Rock of Ages last weekend. Wow! Yes, I know it was ridiculously expensive, but oh-so-worth it. Once per year. That is all. Love my Prada. * How excited I am about my very best friend Andi visiting Park City next weekend for a Girls Weekend full of wine, yummy dinners, gossip, shopping.... Can't wait! * Easter Brunch coming up this month... I love breakfast out (especially with Jennifer after hikes on the weekends in Lafayette and Chow!) but don't often have "official brunch". This has become an annual event for Jarrod & me in the Bay area. Skates on the Bay in Berkeley it will be this year. Yummy. Easter is a fun holiday. Love the bunny. * The hype about St Tropez self tanner IS all it is cracked up to be. I think I blogged about this last time.... yep, great stuff. Bad news: forgot it was in my carry-on luggage and because it was over 3 oz., had to toss it. Boo hoo. Back to the spa boutique I go again today to pick up another bottle. Worth it. Again. * J Crew has the cutest summer dresses this year! Not super expensive, very flattering, practical, classic and oh-so-cute. Picked up a few the other weekend. Going back for more today. * In flight internet is one of the best inventions ever. Really helps the time on the plane "fly" by. Love it. Bad news: when you are crossing your fingers that the plane has it and it does not :( * 90 minute deep tissues massages are the bomb. Even better when you get them every 2 weeks. Did I mention I love my weekends when I work realty hard all week? Give Massage Envy a try people. Economical and body/health saving! Motto to live by: eat healthy, exercise often, get enough sleep, and get regular massages and facials. Ok, that's enough to have on my mind today. Enjoy your weekend. I only have half this time. Off to Arizona for work tomorrow. Bye bye.

Contradiction of Terms

Is it bizarre that I am watching episodes of shows such as "The Biggest Loser" and "Shedding for the Wedding" (yes, that is an actual show) while I surf the Ben & Jerry's ice cream website for new flavors??? www.benjerry.com

Let's start at the beginning.... well, not the beginning.. but yesterday.

Yesterday I was on the airplane reading about a new Ben & Jerry's flavor created for Jimmy Fallon named "Late Night Snack"- vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate covered potato chips and a caramel swirl. YUM. You either love or hate candy-coated-salty-potato chips... me, I love 'em. The best come from Fanny Farmer or Fanny Mae, but I digress... This ice cream rocks (at least from the title). But as I was at the grocery store today, ironically purchasing fruit, veggies, and lean meat, I checked the freezer isle and no "Late Night Snack" to be found. Oh, they had the standards... Jerry Garcia, Half Baked, Phish Food, etc. No nothing from Mr. Fallon.

So, at home.... heating up the DVR for a Saturday evening relaxing at home and on comes the weight loss reality shows. I can't believe this crazy buck-toothed, open mouthed gal Taylor who is trying to lose weight and win her dream wedding actually, truly believes she consumes less than 600 calories per day and can't understand why she is not losing weight!? Honey, the bagel with eggs and cheese that you ate for breakfast had more than 600 calories alone! Again, I am judging while I log onto the B&J's website. On a side note, what a great site! They even have a Flavor Graveyard for all of the discontinued flavors- that was kinda fun. Check it out.

Well, to my chagrin, "Late Night Snack" is too new... not in any stores yet. Boo hoo. But... something to look forward to, I guess. In the meantime, I will watch more weight loss reality. Wait.... better yet, I will just go back to the gym myself and make it real.

24 Hour Fitness, here I come! Elliptical, bring me some more weight loss so I can bring myself some ice cream later!

Glorious Open Weekends

We all run super busy lives... jobs, houses, kids (well, not me, but I understand...), family, money management, errands, worship, community, drama, entertainment, travel..... Get my drift? Heavy emphasis for me on job and travel of course, but the only thing I am missing is the kids, so everything else listed above keeps me busy and hectic. So... it is wonderful when I find myself with a full weekend with no requirements whatsoever.... just the opportunity to relax and do what I like to do- and that is just what I am doing this weekend.

Let's see what that is:
Friday... Cocktails and movies Friday night at home (in this case, 1 cocktail was plenty- work week was long and tiring, therefore, 1 vodka lemonade did the trick for me to fall into an easy slumber)

Saturday...
* Sleep in
* Workout at the gym (even on relaxation weekends, this is key!)
* See where I am in the Sex & the City DVD rotation (yes, I could watch these 6 seasons and the 2 movies over and over and over again... usually watch the entire series once per year.. love when I can do this with a hot cup of coffee--- that is another key to a great weekend... finding great coffee to brew at home- this time it's from Park City Roaster- the Sundance Blend!
* Get a pedicure (love those massage chairs while reading People magazine while my toes are getting pretty!)
* Run a few (fun, but necessary) errands with a little window shopping thrown in- yesterday I picked up some St Tropez Self Tanner at the fabulous store Splendor in Park City... it's supposed to be the best (at $40 a pop it should be) and it's been on my wish list for awhile now
* And back home for more movies and take-out or homemade dinner (or could be a dinner out once and awhile)- last night was cheap steaks and baked potatoes at home and it was delicious!!! And thankful for Netflix for the evening entertainment.

Sunday...
Well, the day is just starting (hello Day Light Savings time!) and Sundance Blend and SATC are up to bat (just for the record, I started back at Season 1, Disc 1, Episode 1... I just realized I have not watched any yet for 2011, so I am starting again now. Oh the joy of Carrie and the girls in the majestic Manhattan- can never get enough!!!)

And after I have had enough of Samantha and her sexcapades, on the agenda for Sunday...
* Gym again
* 90 minute deep tissue massage at Massage Envy
* And back home for more TV and relaxation on the couch.. PLUS maybe a few phone calls to family and girlfriends, laundry and a little light cleaning (yes, I do actually enjoy a cleaning... maybe it's the fresh lemon scent? come one admit it... you like it too... makes the relaxation pad very comfy)

Sounds perfect- or rather right now it IS perfect and will continue to be for me.
Sleep, exercise with music, good coffee, mindless TV and movies, shopping, cocktails, tasty food, magazines, spa experiences, playing on the Internet (including catching up with friends status on Facebook while on the couch).... Yep, that about does it for me. Nice, huh.

I have another long work week ahead and I am sure other weekends with required "to do" lists, so I am reveling in this time now and awaiting the next one to come... not sure when it will arrive due to other weekend plans on the calendar, but I can guarantee IT WILL!
Do I enjoy my down time? From the mouth of Mr Big (episode 1)---- ABSOFUCKINLUTLEY!!!
Happy weekend to all from blog land.

Oscar Fashion!!!

Yep- I become obsessed. Obsessed with the red carpet. Obsessed with the expensive fashion. Obsessed with being catty. 2011 Academy Awards Red Carpet Fashion Show!!!

Nothing super crazy this year. Some good. Some bad. 1 say screamed WOW to me in a good way. 1 that screamed UGH to me in a bad way.

Here are my picks:

BEST DRESSED
Reese Witherspoon (so classic in tuxedo colors and high ponytail)
Natalie Portman (love the maternity prettiness, so cute)
Mila Kunis (va-va-va voom in lavender)
Anne Hathaway (so many to choose from; so little time to see each- sexy little thing is she)

WORST DRESSED
Kate Blanchett (ugh ugh ugh!!! what was that?)
Amy Adams (what was with that necklace with that dress?)
Melissa Leo (was that mirrored gold?)
Scarlett Johanssen (not a fan of lace in general- especially when it is peek-a-boo lace that shows your private bits)
Nicole Kidman (was that a kimono??)

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Those who ALWAYS look great.... Helen Mirren, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock & Hillary Swank. Again- classics.
And a newcomer... Jennifer Lawrence- WOW in red! Stunning actually.

The red carpet was a bit more exciting than the awards. Very predictable. Does not mean I am not already excited about next year....
